The Custom Solutions Deal Architect role is part of the Custom Solutions team. This team is an overlay team to all Verizon Business Group (VBG) sales responsible for leading the largest most complex opportunities VBG have. Custom Solutions provides IT infrastructure integration services for Verizon’s Largest enterprise customers worldwide. Large complex integrated deals always have non-standard complexities and the Custom Solutions team’s responsibility is to deliver these deals in an agile, competitive, automated manner. GIS constructs purpose-built solutions from Verizon and third-party products that solve for our customer’s business objectives. The Total Contract value for the deals the Custom Solutions team engages in range from $50M on up, with an annual group target exceeding $1.3B.
At Verizon the duties and responsibilities of a Custom Solutions Deal Architect require a solid set of skills to lead a diverse team of pre-sales technical and operational stakeholders. You will lead cross functional teams focused on the largest most complex opportunities presented to Verizon. These interpersonal requirements are in addition to hands-on abilities that require attention to detail and organization. You must collaborate with stakeholders and managerial personnel to create a winning proposal that focuses on Verizon’s strengths and meets the customers' business objectives. Provide overall architectural ownership and solution management across all solution towers, multiple verticals, and geographic regions. Accountable for the End-to-End solution integrity and for managing the solution through the bid, internal governance and contracting processes to ensure successful delivery and profitability. Responsible for growing and maintaining business revenue, by partnering with internal and external stakeholders to drive sales activities, design and deliver targeted solutions, providing ongoing customer support and managing customer relations. Responsible for designing and delivering advanced solutions and engaging customers and stakeholders throughout the sales cycle by providing ongoing technical, advisory, consultative or project management support to customers. Responsible for designing and delivering advanced solutions to help move the sales process forward and win business. They generally tend to be pre-sale oriented, providing technical expertise and engaging customers and stakeholders over the course of the sales cycle.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Owns the overall solution including managing all technology, operational costs to ensure a profitable winning solution.
Owns overall operational service and strategy.
Translates business outcomes to solution requirements in detailed documentation for stakeholders to operate and take direction from downstream.
Manages assigned Solution Architects (SA), Advanced Technology Group (ATG), subject matter experts as well as Tier 2/3 engineers.
Partners with the Operational Planning Design (OPD) team and Distinguished Architects (DA) to ensure the technology approach will align with downstream systems and tools.
Manages Third Party Vendor elements creating Statements of Requirements (SOR’s) and Statements of Work (SOW’s) working with Solution Design Architects and assigned Third Party Vendor manager.
Articulates end to end solution to customer detailing business outcomes they will realize through presentations and orals
Owns architecture elements of contract negotiations working closely with Verizon Legal team
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Proven work experience as an Enterprise Architect or similar role
Excellent technical, analytical and project management skills
Experience in modeling and graphic representations
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
