What you’ll be doing…

The Maintenance Engineering Lab Transport and Infrastructure team is looking for a Distinguished Engineer who will be responsible for leading and maintaining the Lab transport infrastructure network and for some pre-production testing of various software/hardware features of lab elements. You will help identify and troubleshoot issues ahead of time before the deployment of software/hardware and help with the validation of the design in the lab environment providing valuable inputs such as design parameters, tweaks and modifications as required. In this role you will be responsible for troubleshooting and root-causing issues by collaborating with Maintenance Engineering teams, Network Planning, vendor TAC and architecture/design teams. You will be interpreting packet captures from different routing/switching platforms and provide support troubleshooting and identifying various software and hardware issues/defects and help validate fix/workarounds for the issues.

• Providing MOP validation, Software Upgrades and Hardware Upgrades.

• Providing Configurations Support, VTS Template creation and testing as well as Design validation.

• Driving Lab Issue Troubleshooting support, TAC/RMA support assistance and coordination for the lab.

• Providing Failover/redundancy testing, Production issue reproduction on the lab setup.

• Focusing on Lab Change window support as well as Lab device Alarm clearing.

• Creating and tracking Activity logs/reports in Jira as well as providing weekly updates on the activities/deliverables.

What we’re looking for…
You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

• Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and /or military experience, or specialized training.

• Experience with either of these technologies/tools: VXLAN, Segment Routing, MPLS-LDP, MPLS-VPN, Dual stack MP-BGP, EBH, Timing, Routing Protocols, IPv4, IPv6, Multicast, QOS, VTS, DCNM, Pseudo-wires / VPLS / VPRN, IP/MAC/Switching/Spanning Tree.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Ability to apply security patches to lab-owned servers (Sysadmin / Linux / Red Hat / Ubuntu) iPerf servers.

• Experience configuring and navigating the following platforms: Cisco IOS-XR, Cisco NX-OS, Cisco IOS-XE, Cisco NCS, Nokia TiMOS (7750, IXRs, IXRe, SR1s), Juniper MX Series Juniper QFX/EX Series Security.

• Experience with Fortinet firewall (Remote access and IPSEC Site-to-Site VPNs).

• Juniper SRX firewalls for lab data traffic.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
