What you’ll be doing...

The Technology Development organization is searching for senior network and technology experts who will be focused in the areas of delivery solutions on top of Private Wireless Networking including integrations of devices, UI development, and IOT.

The Distinguished Engineer will be responsible for leading activities for a nationwide program (and globally for some projects) on the development and incubation of 4G, 5G, private networks and mobile edge computing environments as well as the integration of over-the-top applications and ecosystems and the delivery of these solutions. This is a technical position focused on building technology solutions along with testing and validating technologies to support DOD & Public Sector, Sports & Venues, Media & Entertainment, Healthcare and Enterprise Customer Segments

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Working with network field and ops, internal technology and product groups, sales organizations and external technology companies in order to develop and deploy suitable technologies for these spaces.

• Architecture designing and deployment of 4G/5G and MEC ecosystems and working very closely with Network Planning, Business groups and peer TPD teams (Technology Solutions, Incubation, Product and Global Operations teams) to lead efforts for innovation development and delivery that accelerate market penetration and market share of Private Wireless Networking.

• Recommending which solutions and deployment technology architecture Verizon should pursue and build an infrastructure for testing, incubation and connectivity with internal and external partners.

• Designing and engineering the infrastructure for trial scenarios, as well as managing the progression and deployment of HW and SW for the partners.

• Exhibiting experience in wireless and wireline networks, hands-on integration experience with MEC/Cloud/IT infrastructures as well as a very good sense of new technologies and innovations coming out of incubators, universities, and other innovation environments and experience working in or supporting the business segments targeted.

• Developing, directing and leading key action plans, milestones and deliverables, keeping the team on task to work through solutions to support the planning and business strategy. The ideal candidate will have the acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities. The position requires high engagement, the ability to build collaboration and technical expertise.

• Building testing lab environments to test and validate different technologies and solutions including documenting testing plans and results. Among the responsibilities that this individual will be accountable for, they will also be solely responsible for managing the Testing and Validation Center (TEC) along with managing equipment and inventories and managing the robotic fleet and other demo environments.

• Providing presentations and demos to executive and technology teams (both customers and internal) as they tour the facility or as they present a solution that they have designed.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

• Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

• Experience leading large integration projects.

• Experience in IIOT, Robotics, Computer Vision, AI and Private Cellular Systems Development Experience.

• Experience in Cloud Hosting services, Kubernetes, Kafka, Systems Administration.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• BS and MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

• Experience working with enterprise clients

• Expert understanding of computer technologies and architectures including O/S, Database, NFV, Cloud, SDN and or AI.

• Expert understanding of Wi-Fi and Wireless Radio Access Network technology.

• Demonstrated passion for building new products and superb customer experiences.

• Demonstrated experience in building strong relationships with key stakeholders.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as superior analytical skills.

• Ability to work well in a team environment.

• Independent and self-motivated.

• Strong executive communication and presentation skills.

• Demonstrable experience working with clients and delivering solutions through a well-defined process that extends from concept development, through architecture, to building and deploying.

• Wireless Network experience.

• Security Clearance.
