    The Lumen Internship

    Lumen offers a fully immersive, 10-week summer internship program. Our interns demonstrate curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing technology. We believe that empowering our people and helping them reach their full potential is essential for the long-term success of both Lumen and our customers.

    Program dates: May 30 – August 8, 2025.

    Work Location

    This is a hybrid position, located in our Ashburn, VA office.

    (The hybrid work model involves splitting your time between working in the office and working remotely).

    The Main Responsibilities

    Lumen’s Sales organization is looking for an Account Manager Intern. The role involves working closely with the team to support the Virginia, Maryland, and DC large enterprise markets, focusing on collaboration, sharing best practices, and prospecting within the account base. The ideal candidate should be hungry to learn, love technology, and be willing to be coached for positive results. They will be expected to set appointments for sellers, engage in customer-facing activities, and shadow sellers to learn about capability and technology briefings, among other tasks.

    What We Look For in a Candidate

    Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate’s commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.

    Required qualifications:

    • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship
    • Graduating August 2025 – May 2027
    • Preferred fields include but not limited to: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Technology, IT, or related field
    • Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025)

    Proficiency and understanding of:

    • Standard Microsoft tools such as PowerPoint and Outlook, with the willingness to be ramped up on other necessary tools

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Enjoys collaboration and works well in team environment
    • Comfortability interacting with different levels of leadership and presenting solutions
    • Unafraid to ask questions to find solutions
    • Thinks outside the box to challenge the norm
    • Works to think of creative solutions to challenging problems
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to multitask while working in fast paced environment
    • Customer first mindset
    • A drive to grow and develop skillsets

    Compensation

    Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual's level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.

    Hourly Based Pay Range:
    Min: $22.00/hour
    Max: $35.00/hour

    Work Authorization

    US work authorization required for role. Individuals requiring current or future sponsorship for employment are not eligible.

    What to Expect Next

    This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

    This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
