As a Principal Engineer, you will be tasked with supporting multiple public sector programs and projects, with a focus on network management systems, MS Windows system administration, and life-cycle engineering.

    • Performing system administration and life-cycle engineering of a hyperconverged infrastructure environment hosting VMware ESXi virtual machines running Windows Server 2016 and 2019 operating environments and virtual appliances.

    • Performing security management of the managed environment: ongoing security hardening via Active Directory configuration, patching and code updates, ad-hoc vulnerability remediation, and reporting.

    • Implementing technology projects: planning, procuring, building, hardening, installing, and performing ongoing life-cycle engineering of new information systems.

    • Performing project management of technology projects; finishing projects independently and meeting tight timelines without impacting critical services.

    • Providing mentoring to other team members on networking, system administration, software applications, and engineering while acting as the escalation point to support production service issues in concert with application, operational, and PMO teams.

    • Strong knowledge/experience with VMware, including vSphere and vCenter.

    • Experience with leading/managing small projects.

    • Knowledge of IP networking and ports/protocols.

    • The ability to obtain and maintain the following US security clearances: DoD Top Secret, DHS Public Trust.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or Technology related field.

    • Knowledge/experience with Linux system administration, Red Hat preferred.

    • Knowledge/experience with NetApp SAN (ONTAP).

    • Ability to lead and drive projects to completion and balance multiple work assignments simultaneously.

    • Critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and decision-making skills.

    • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
