    What you’ll be doing...

    As a Technical Project Manager for the Public Sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) engineering team, you will be a project manager on a multi-discipline team that will deliver and manage the technology roadmap for the FAA infrastructure architecture Verizon’s solutions and services. As a Technical Project Manager, you will have the responsibility to ensure that the Verizon FENS engineering team delivers projects on-time and on-budget is critical to driving innovation for our customers. You’ll work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to help them manage multiple deliverables and stay on track. When expertise in project management is required, you will be there to assign responsibilities and set goals to maintain project momentum and achieve your team’s desired outcomes.

    • Program manage the roadmap for scaling our technology and engineering processes for all FENS solutions. This includes executive reporting, status updates, budgeting, resource allocation and dependency mapping through collaboration with the other departments.

    • Clearly articulate resource needs to achieve program objectives as well as identifying critical path issues, alternative plan scenarios and associated risks to stakeholders

    • Provide effective communication to team members, senior leaders, and the broader organization.

    • Project manage core initiatives that have complex dependencies but deliver org wide improvements for engineering experience, platform architecture or changes to core platform services.

    • Contribute and drive change in our processes to become more efficient in our ability to deliver quality solutions to our customers.

    • Develop and maintain project plans including charter, scope, work breakdown structures, estimates, resource plans, budget, task dependencies, schedule, open issues, and risk assessment, management and mitigation plans across multiple work streams

    • Work with the PMO, resource managers, technical staff and business subject matter experts to orchestrate project deliverables to ensure they are planned/executed in alignment with the overall program/project strategy and plan

    • Define and manage overall project risks and take corrective action in a proactive manner to mitigate those risks

    • Direct and monitor work efforts on a daily basis, identify resource needs, perform quality review; and escalate functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.

    The successful candidate will be an experienced project manager who has strong experience in delivering complex projects and of driving organizational change around process innovation and improvement. They will be familiar with different technologies and will have a strong collaborative approach to enable the organization to continue to achieve ambitious product and product development objectives while continuing to grow the organization. They need to be able to work across an organization to influence the right behaviors and win support for the project and process changes required to meet the company’s goals.

    You’ll need to have:

    • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

    • Advanced note taking skills and task tracking ability across an organization

    • Proven knowledge and experience in managing complex projects in fast paced environment.

    • Proven ability to manage a portfolio of work across multiple projects and teams

    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically when planning, managing teams and processes

    • Takes accountability for all project management aspects and works effectively and closely with the delivery managers

    • Skillful use of interpersonal skills and influence to accomplish work without formal authority and to ensure optimal team performance

    • Excellent communication and customer service skills, which enable successful collaboration with executive level stakeholders

    • Strong experience facilitating project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, and ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders

    • Sound judgment, problem solving, and collaboration in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to problems

    • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional or horizontally aligned teams

    • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance at Public Trust level

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • PMP Certification

    • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to influence, lead and mentor

    • Ability to work effectively in a self-directed team with minimal oversight/guidance

    • Sense of urgency with complete follow-through and personal accountability

    • Public Sector Domain Experience to include both Federal and Department of Defense contract and procurement experience.

    • Experience in the Aviation industry

    • Demonstrated interpersonal communication, organization and project management skills

    • Highly organized with an ability to manage competing priorities

    Where you’ll be working

    In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
