    What you’ll be doing...

    Verizon Technology and Product Development (TPD) is looking for a dynamic, self-driven and highly motivated Principle Software Engineer & Architect for developing the NaaS (Network As A Service) & Security initiatives in the Technology and Product development organization. The position will be responsible for Technology development, solution design and software development for product offerings in Network & Security integrated offerings. This role will require a strong entrepreneurial attitude who can ideate, collaborate, design, solution, and architect NaaS product solutions working with internally developed solutions and vendor solutions. The candidate should be able to work in an agile environment across stakeholder organizations (including other Software development teams, Product Management, Security & Network Operations, Network design teams, back office systems, Customers, Sales and partner’s). The role requires strong background in software development and product development and delivery for enterprise customers.

    This position will be responsible for driving a product development and driving technical team consisting of software engineering functions for any feature development and system maintenance.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Developing an Network & Security product portals and software solutions.

    • Planning, designing, developing, coding and testing software systems or applications for software improvements and new products; revising and refining as required.

    • Participating in the development of project timelines, implementation design specifications, system flow diagrams, documentation, testing and ongoing support of systems.

    • Conceptualizing and developing prototypes quickly in working with the product and architect.

    • Engaging in engineering discussions, contributing to the conversation, providing your own opinions, asking thoughtful questions for clarification, and enriching the environment.

    • Deploying high-performance distributed micro services and systems for platform products.

    • Building something awesome. The ideal project is something you can be proud of that we use in our product.

    • Maintaining and improving existing code with a pride of ownership.

    What we’re looking for...

    You’ll need to have:

    • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

    • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

    • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time

    Even better if you have one or more of the following:

    • End to end full stack development experience.

    • Experience with NaaS portal development.

    • Cloud experience.

    • Knowledge of software architecture, networking and distributed systems, design patterns, and UNIX/Linux environments.

    • Experience with browser-side client technologies including HTML5, CSS, ReactJS/Redux and object-oriented JavaScript, or experience with server-side client technologies including Java or C++.

    • Experience with development with HTTP/RESTful APIs, Microservices, NodeJS, Java EE/Spring Framework.

    • Experience in design and implementation of complex and distributed systems, particularly in building high-performance backend and/or frontend frameworks.

    • Knowledge of large-scale software architecture, networking and distributed systems, design patterns, and UNIX/Linux environments.

    • Industry experience with MySQL or relevant.

    • Exposure to AWS architecture, concepts, and tools.

    • Experience with test-driven development, continuous integration and continuous deployment processes.

    • Experience in Scala is a plus

    • Experience in DevOps is a plus

    • Possess excellent communication, written and oral skills.

    Where you’ll be working

    In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
