Production Support Engineer Roles and Responsibilities - Ordering/Provisioning
A production support engineer is a Verizon Subject Matter Expert in multiple areas who communicates process changes, assists with new product rollouts, and assists users with resolving issues. The Verizon Production Support Engineer – Ordering/Provisioning will be familiar with all aspects of the Service Delivery process from the initial sales quote to completion of provisioning functions. A good working knowledge of Verizon Business systems is required which includes, but is not limited to: PQ+, OM+, Canvas, BGW, F&E, VDDS, SNM, OSQAR, TCOMS, TVPM, Porch, IEN.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Managing incidents: When Verizon systems fail to function as expected, production support engineers identify, diagnose and find ways to resolve the issue. Often, they collaborate with other team members to address the problem.
Troubleshooting issues: Production support engineers analyze tickets to determine if there are reoccurring system issues that require either additional user training or if there is an underlying system defect that needs to be corrected by Verizon GTS teams.
Contributing to and collaborating with product development: These engineers participate in every phase of the product development process, such as designing, building and testing.
Also assist with creating Verizon standard process documents for training prior to product releases.
Collaborating with other departments: Production support engineers collaborate with various cross-functional teams and work with developers, system administrators and software engineers to solve production issues. \Updating senior leaders about the system status and share timely resolution progress.
Proactive Notifications: Production Support Engineers will monitor applications and alert the user community when there are issues that will affect Service Delivery.
What we are looking for...
You'll need to have:
Four or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work experience and/or military service
Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Experience with managing product rollouts
Working knowledge of system dependencies and interconnection
Experience in documenting processes and facilitating training
Telecom Industry experience
Even better if you have:
A bachelor's degree in Math, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
Advanced knowledge of Verizon back-office systems and processes
Experience with large and complex data sets
Experience in layer 2/3 testing
Strong communication skills
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
