    Introduction:

    IBM Quantum is an industry first initiative to build universal quantum computers for business, engineering and science.     You will be part of a team whose mission is to prototype, test and release new technologies for the world to use. As an IBM Quantum Engineer, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary, global team of developers, designers, researchers, and engineers to bring new features to life.     Your Role and Responsibilities:

    IBM has joined with Princeton University to create Quantum Undergraduate Research at IBM and Princeton (QURIP).

    QURIP is a unique summer undergraduate research program that combines academic research in quantum science and engineering at Princeton with industry experience at IBM Q in Yorktown Heights, NY.

    Through this program, you can apply to work with any group at quantum.princeton.edu for the first 6 weeks of the assignment in Princeton, NJ. These groups span a wide range of disciplines, from quantum materials, condensed matter physics, and atomic physics to quantum information, algorithms, and architecture. During the next 4 weeks, you will work with the Quantum Computing group at IBM Q on cutting-edge translational research at IBM's T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. You will learn and engage in multiple projects, ranging from Qiskit compiler challenges on 5Q, and 16Q quantum computers, learning depths of Qiskit open source software as well as many quantum computing-related hardware designs.

    This fast-paced, intensive, highly-selective program will also feature seminars and research exchanges among the whole quantum research community at Princeton and IBM, creating a unique interdisciplinary community at the cutting edge of quantum research.

    Candidates pursuing a bachelor's degree in physics, engineering or a related area are preferred.

    Program dates; six weeks:

    July 18 - August 26 OR July 25 - September 2 (depending on your academic calendar)

    Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

    • Computer programming-basic knowledge

    • Research experience-basic knowledge

    Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise:

    • Familiarity with hardware programming (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry PI)

    • Hands-on work in a laboratory environment, using test equipment

    • Scientific programming (e.g. Matlab, Mathematica)
