What you’ll achieve

We are looking for a talented and motivated software engineer to join our team as we continue to build and grow the Dell EMC PowerProtect Data manager.  Dell EMC PowerProtect Data Manager provides software defined data protection, automated discovery, deduplication, operational agility, self-service and IT governance for physical, virtual and cloud environments.  We orchestrate protection directly through an intuitive interface or empower data owners to perform self-service backup and restore operations from their native applications. Our unique VMware protection allows customers to protect VMware VMs without business disruption. Everything we do enables customers to leverage existing Dell EMC PowerProtect appliances while ensuring compliance and meeting even the strictest of service level objectives.

With operational simplicity, agility and flexibility at its core, PowerProtect Data Manager enables the protection, management, and recovery of data in on-premises, virtualized and cloud deployments, including protection of in-cloud workloads.  Our modular design allows agile delivery of new features and updates that can rapidly evolve to meet future IT demands.

You will:

As a Software Engineer, you will work on the next generation data protection product. The PowerProtect Data Management (PPDM) product is a scalable, software/appliance-based solution for centralized management of enterprise level customer data.  In the job you will:

• Design, develop and maintain applications written with Java, Python, C/C++ on Windows and Linux platforms
• Participate in architecture discussions and reviews
• Work in a distributed-team environment
• Work closely with other development teams, QA, and customer support
• Have a good time and learn a lot!

**Essential Requirements **

First and foremost, we are looking for talented and motivated software engineers.  A list of things we think are essential for your to be successful in this position include:

• Java, Python and or C/C++ coding experience on Windows and Linux platforms
• We really value test automation, so we also want to see experience with test automation such as Junit
• Familiar working with REST APIs. Out microservices design model requires you design, implement, and utilize REST APIs.
• Good understanding IPC (inter process communications) and TCP/IP & socket communication
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Data Structures
• Master’s or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with 2 years’ experience or related fields

**Desirable Requirements **

• Familiar with Jira, Jenkins, Design Patterns and Cloud Native architecture, RDBMS or NoSQL databases
• Knowledge of Python, Java, Spring framework
