Ingram Micro is seeking a motivated and talented Summer Intern – Data Engineering to join us in June for our 10-week PAID Summer Internship Program! We are looking for ambitious college and university students who are ready to expand their skills and apply them to meaningful work with a global organization.

Location: This role will be based in our Irvine, California office. The intern who fills this role must be able to work out of this office for a minimum of 2 days per week, with the opportunity for hybrid work.

Program Details:

We have internships available across our various departments and locations throughout the U.S. including Irvine, CA, Buffalo, NY, Fort Worth, TX, Joliet, IL, and Carol Stream, IL. Unless otherwise noted – all internships are on a hybrid format at the designated office listed in the job description, and are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Our program includes cohort activities such as learning & development trainings, executive speaker sessions, group projects, and other events.

Important Dates:

• March – May: Recruiters and hiring managers will review applications, as well as reach out to candidates and make offers on a rolling basis, with a goal of filling all roles by May

• June 5th– August 11th: First cohort start & end date (for semester system students who start summer break earlier)

• June 19th– August 25th: Second cohort start & end date (for quarter system students who start summer break later)

Responsibilities of your role:

This role will support our Data Engineering department, which oversees our global BI data warehouse. The global BI data warehouse is a team that leverages the largest combined sets of data across Ingram Micro. This team includes Data Science, Pricing, Marketing, Sales and Consulting. The Data Engineering team is responsible for the inflow and maintenance of this data along with supporting any infrastructure needs (i.e., servers, software, application support).

This role will be responsible for:

• Providing administrative and operational support for SSIS Packages and Python jobs

• Resolving level I support tickets

• Building data pipelines using Python which will help fulfilling data needs of key business stakeholders

• Building and maintaining complex SQL queries using SQL Server and Big Query

• Working closely with pricing scientists, data scientists, business analysts and data analysts

Knowledge, skills, and/or abilities you need to have:

• Actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program, or recently graduated (within the last semester or quarter) from an accredited college/university program.

• Strong academic record with a cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

• Pursuing a BS/MS in Computer Science or similar field

• Ability to navigate in a MS Windows environment

• Knowledge of relational databases

• Knowledge of T-SQL

• Understanding and exposure to cloud technology AWS, Azure or Google

• Good communication and presentation skills

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Able to function as part of a team

• Experience with extract, transform, load procedures

• Experience coding in Python

• Ability to leverage expertise in data gathering, analytical, and problem-solving work

• Ability to apply critical thinking to a wide variety of problems

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $20-25/hour.

The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate’s primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.
