What you’ll be doing...

As a Telecom Transport Engineer, you will be responsible for providing end to end technical oversight and project management for transport network expansion projects. These projects focus on the expansion of the 4G, 5G and CBand networks. The candidate will be responsible for development and issuance of RFP documents to fiber providers, managing the proposal response cycle, comparison and selection of bids, working with Area planning organizations to develop business cases for route expansions, and working with the contracts group in developing and executing the lit and dark fiber contracts

• Technical support and project management for the design, acquisition, and implementation for all equipment supporting Network infrastructure projects including DWDM and SONET Optical transport systems deployed throughout the Verizon Wireless (VZW) Network or Microwave point-to-point or point to multipoint installations.

• Work closely with all groups within the Network team including RF Design, Real Estate, Construction, Operations, Facilities, System Performance and the Area Planning team.

• Handling vendor management responsibilities, including engineering/design, managing budgets, procurement, and complete project management ensuring objectives are met in accordance with stated timelines.

• Partnering with VZB and the Fiber One Team to deliver all solutions in a timely manner.

This job will need to be located in the geographic area posted.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

• Three or more years of relevant work experience.

• Experience in Cisco, Ciena and or ALU/Nokia router configuration.

• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Technical degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Experience in the cellular/telecommunications industry in a Transport engineering role.

• In depth knowledge and advanced proficiency in CWDM/DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent.

• CCNA or related certification.
