Global Technology Solutions (GTS) is Verizon’s technology organization with global responsibility for information technology, strategy, architecture, development and management of the information systems portfolio, continued evolution of digital platforms and operation of all supporting infrastructure. The SRE (Site Reliability engineering) team is responsible for high volume operations supporting all VCG (Verizon Consumer group) systems and applications, focusing on availability, process automation and security.
In this role, you’ll be:
Working on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Automation: Develop, deploy and test workflows for transport layer security (TLS) certificate renewals for middleware, DB and MQ server side certificates.
Helping develop scripts to perform the middleware configuration audit.
Utilizing SRE Observability: Develop, deploy and test workflows for self healing use cases.
Automating the provisioning of infrastructure, enabling to develop, deploy, and scale applications.
Responsible for the creation of infra build automation framework for various products like MQ, App/Web Servers, In-memory caching, etc.
Building the middleware configuration standards, developing packages, and creating the SSI configuration files.
Helping the team in building the Application logging framework and automation of cluster provisioning.
Gaining the opportunity to learn the ELK stack and different components within it.
Participating in networking activities with other interns, professionals and business leaders.
You must be currently enrolled in a degree program and be in good academic standing to be considered.
In this internship, you’ll likely work remote with in-person opportunities available. If you are located near a Verizon hub, you may work in a hybrid model and visit the office on a set cadence with your manager.

You’ll need to have:
Attendance at Texas Southern University.
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in: Information Systems, Information Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Data Analytics, Business IT, or related majors with an expected completion date between December 2026 and June 2028.
Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
Willingness to align to our Irving, TX location.

Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a remote environment.
Demonstrated strong analytical skills, communication, leadership and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving, team environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of analysis, coding, testing, documenting processes, and applications from detailed requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge of data structures and algorithms as well as operating system fundamentals and infrastructure components.
Experience with artificial intelligence/machine learning.
Experience with Docker, Ansible, Virtualization (VMWare, etc.)
Experience with Python, Java/scripting and Linux.
