    About our Legal team

We are a diverse legal team, dedicated to developing highly-talented, passionate people who share our interest in working on engaging legal issues and applying a pragmatic, creative, and thoughtful approach to provide timely and usable legal guidance to our business team. As a data platform business, we often operate on the leading edge of the legal sphere, where technology leaps ahead of the law and the rules get fuzzy. This makes our work very interesting. So if this sounds like something you're passionate about and you have a keen desire to work in a friendly, hands-on environment with terrific people, we'd love to have you on board.

    What we're looking for

We are looking for a legal intern to work with our in-house counsel on a variety of legal and compliance projects. In this position, you will gain valuable exposure to the legal issues facing a high-growth data platform business as well as learn about many aspects of in-house legal practice. Your work will be important in helping Momentive's legal team to improve its operational processes, advise internal business units on legal policies and risk management practices, and offer Momentive's customers a secure, compliant, and trustworthy platform for conducting analyses that drive informed decision-making.

You will have an opportunity to experience working life in a fun and dynamic environment with exceptional people and participate in Momentive's intern program events.

    You will

    • Assist in updating internal company policies and external customer-facing policies
    • Research and respond to various questions from internal business teams
    • Research legal and regulatory requirements and assist with employment-related projects and compliance initiatives
    • Participate in team and project meetings to gain an understanding of issues affecting our business
    • Learn how we think about legal issues related to technology and see how we apply them in a practical context
    • Identify and improve processes to support the legal team's operations
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and outside counsel on special projects
  • Qualifications

    You have

    • Completed at least one year of law school (current 1L or 2L)
    • Strong academic record
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • General understanding of contracts, intellectual property, and other technology-related areas of law preferred
    • Demonstrable interest in legal areas related to employment and compliance
    • Ability to work well in a team environment
    • Ability and willingness to expand job responsibilities, suggest improvements and collaborate with others to generate ideas for improved processes
    • Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and willing to perform some routine tasks
    • Minimum 1 year of professional experience or other internship experience preferred
