Latham & Watkins, a global law firm consistently ranked among the top firms in the world, is currently seeking a Marketing Communications Manager – Global Attorney Recruiting to join our winning team, located in New York or Washington, DC. The success of our Firm is largely determined by our commitment to hire and develop the very best and brightest, creating a team that provides our clients with the highest quality of work and service. We are driven by our core values: respect, innovation and collaboration.

The Marketing Communications Manager – Global Attorney Recruiting will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. Eligible employees can participate in Latham's comprehensive benefit program including healthcare, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401k plan, and more! In addition, employees receive 10 paid holidays per year, and a PTO program that accrues 23 days during the first year of employment and grows with tenure.

As the Manager, you will oversee marketing communications, public relations, and branding for the Firm’s global lawyer recruiting program. You will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of key internal and external communication strategies to tell the Latham story, and to attract students and lawyers who will thrive here.

You will have the opportunity to mix strategic and tactical / hands-on responsibilities, as initiatives will encompass communication plans, campaigns, writing, editing, video and multimedia conceptualization and implementation, design / branding, and creative thinking. The Manager will be equally comfortable developing a long range strategic plan, drafting copy for a brochure, making recommendations about a logo, or conceptualizing and coordinating a video shoot. The Manager will use superior communication, marketing, project management, and organizational skills to create and oversee marketing communications related to law student and attorney recruiting initiatives at the Firm. The Manager will be comfortable dealing with executives, be a fast and flexible thinker, have a demonstrated ability to work independently, act with sound judgement and confidentiality, brainstorm projects and see them through to fruition, and prioritize and coordinate multiple complex tasks with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The Manager will also have an intense curiosity about how lawyers at all levels—new lawyers and mid-career laterals— look for their future legal opportunities, and how we can attract the best talent from among them. The responsibilities of the Manager will also include:

    • Collaborating with colleagues across the Firm's departments, generating marcomms campaigns that enhance the Firm’s brand, programs, and initiatives with an understanding of how to motivate and inspire the various populations affiliated with recruiting; staying informed about best practices, trends, and developments in legal recruiting and marketing, public relations, and communications disciplines
    • On a regular basis, wearing many hats, functioning as a strategist and planner, creative consultant, senior advisor, multimedia storyteller, copywriter, and editor
    • Providing creative thinking and strategic counsel to develop marketing programs that convey our employer story, values, global practice, and vision
    • Developing and implementing comprehensive campaigns – including strategic planning, launch, ongoing and day-to-day engagement, tracking, and reporting including comprehensive editorial calendars, internal product / service launches, awareness campaigns, branding, and special projects
    • Developing, managing, and executing campaign strategy and outreach to include varied marketing communications channels (paid, earned, shared, and owned)
    • Displaying extraordinary organizational and project management skills across a range of campaigns and collateral, coupled with a positive, high-energy attitude
    • Understanding the Firm’s business goals and objectives, effectively combining seemingly disparate elements into cohesive messaging
    • Generating extremely creative, compelling, and engaging campaigns and related collateral, including written products, videos, logos/banners, and content for social media and websites
    • Using innovative and cutting-edge media and communication vehicles to capture attention in a fast-paced professional services environment, and being capable of deploying the right voice for each intended audience
    • Collaborating with creative / design and video teams to incorporate compelling graphical elements and multimedia into marketing communications, and displaying strong design judgement
    • Working closely with the Director of Recruiting to support the Firm's Global Recruiting Committee, including such subcommittees as Diversity Hiring and Summer Associate Training, while serving as a key member of the Firm’s Brand & Communications team
    • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for colleagues.

As a Manager, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Manager must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, and excellent leadership skills necessary for effective management. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively with others, and the ability to undertake large, long-term projects, develop alternative methods to complete them, and implement solutions.
