Job Summary: The person hired for this position will be responsible for the investigation, experimental design, characterization, method development and standard testing of both Ramp;D and existing materials using traditional wet chemical techniques (Ion Chromatography, Combustion, Titration, etc.) with interpretation of results individually or in partnership with peers using a wide variety of other analytical technologies to accomplish same. FMRD develops and manufactures a diverse portfolio of chemical materials. The analytical testing of materials using a wide variety of analytical technologies is vitally important to MRD quality and 3M growth. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Performing routine and non-routine laboratory testing of samples utilizing titration, combustion based elemental and Ion Chromatography techniques. * Providing analytical service and insight to support Ramp;D, factory production, and regulatory often summarized in well written reports. * Converting Ramp;D analytical techniques into robust well written test methods suitable for use in factory laboratory environment. * Participating on and/or lead cross functional team(s) to deliver data and test plans needed to support launch of new products and processes. * Maintaining hardware, software, calibration, and supplies for assigned laboratory instrumentation. * Identifying opportunities and/or needs for new analytical technology. * Ability to multi-task and/or agility to meet changing priorities and satisfy needs in timely manner. * Conducting work in accordance with applicable policies and/or business procedure. * Interfacing with and represent the FMRD Analytical laboratory with related organizations, e.g. FMRD Ramp;D Laboratory, FMRD Factories, Customer Divisions, and other Global 3M Analytical Groups. * Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: * Possess a Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution * Minimum of three (3) years chemistry experience in a private, public, government or military environmentnbsp; Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in an industrial laboratory setting * Demonstrated experience in titrations, combustion techniques and Ion Chromatography theory and testing * Familiar with other analytical technologies, e.g. XRF, spectroscopy; gas, liquid amp; ion chromatography; ICP, etc. * General knowledge of a broad range of analytical technologies * Proficiency with computer software (spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and graphical analysis) * Microsoft Office proficient * Metrohm Tiamo Titration software experience * Metrohm MagicNet IC software experience * Familiarity with fluorochemical analysis. * 3M experience * Strong oral and written communication skills * Excellent organizational skills * Project management experience * Ability to work well in diverse teams * Flexible with a high degree of personal integrity and motivation * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Location: nbsp;Maplewood, MN Travel: nbsp;May include up to 10% domestic/international Relocation: nbsp;Is not authorized nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without a sponsorship for employment visa status (e.e.
