Job Summary: The person hired for the position of Application Development Engineer will support the application/business development efforts for Optically Clear Adhesives in Consumer Electronic applications. This is a unique, cross discipline position working in an attractive technical environment. This position requires a creative, hands-on and self-directed individual with the ability to adapt their engineering / material science knowledge to the field of electronic adhesives and display module assembly. Typical development activities will take place in the lab, and in the field with customers and partners. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Work with global Application Engineering, Product Development, Sales and Marketing personnel to develop and replicate high impact applications for Optically Clear and Functional Adhesives. * Identify the best 3M solution for an application by thoroughly understanding the customer need, testing and analyzing results. Communicate results to customers through written reports and presentations. * Build competitive value propositions for effective new product commercialization. * Provide launch support for new product programs by generating supporting documentation, demonstration tools, videos and training materials. * Understand and apply regulatory and compliance requirements. * Build a deep understanding of customer needs and competition in assigned market focused areas and provide Voice of Customer (VOC), new product ideas and competitive analysis. * Provide hands on customer training to demonstrate proper application techniques and performance advantage of OCA products, including optimization of customer processes. * Diagnose customer application issues and help solve in an expeditious manner. * Share key learning, train and support 3M global organization. Basic Qualifications: * Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university * Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with adhesives in a private, public, government or military environment Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related discipline from an accredited university * Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adhesives * Demonstrated ability to work with customers globally * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and data analysis * Demonstrated attention to detail
