Job Summary : The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for leading the site in support of the Automotive Industry Expectations and to enable IATF 16949 conformance related to product manufacturing processes. The individual will support new product launches using APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning); enable customer approval of our materials through PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) or other customer specified requirements. Coordinate any product or process changes (short term or long term) with divisional resources and the customer. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Lead creation and maintenance of documentation for manufacturing processes (Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan) in conformance to IATF 16949, APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and customer requirements; Alignment of product and process documentation to align to the documentation identified above and enable standard plant formatting Provide understanding and training to operators and technicians on product applications and impact of nonconformance to our customers and our customers customer Lead quality investigations and ensure conformance to customer required timing and response format, update the associated manufacturing documentation appropriately, or communicate accordingly with the customer Conduct MSAs internally and round robin with appropriate sites Ensure all PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation updated annually at a minimum; Conduct layout (per customer requirements) (minimum annual, but potentially higher) Coordinate material functional testing with appropriate other sites Identifies and leads continual improvement projects associated with responsible products and processes Support QMS, Process and Product Audits, potentially across sites Support division MOC and NPI process (with new Automotive Requirements); including coordinate customer notification through division resources regarding product or process changes Lead Material Review Board investigations, coordinated with division resources for any product or process deviations Share best practices across sites Train, counsel, and guide engineers, managers and directors in the Automotive Expectations Creates and maintains extensive network of resources (quality, laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate cross functional training and best practice identification Identifies, plans, recommends, and completes quality programs for the site Independently performs project planning. Establishes project objectives and priorities Maintains an awareness of process improvement opportunities and is productive in evaluating ideas and making proposals Functions as an effective team leader Basic Qualifications: Possess a bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution Minimum three (3) years of experience in a private, public, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: quality, application engineering, product engineering, new product introduction, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing technology, process engineering, project engineering, IT systems engineering, and/or research laboratory Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering, Statistics or related discipline from an accredited university Experience as auditor: ISO9001:2015 and/or IATF16949:2016 (preferred) Skills include communication, writing, handling conflict, Microsoft Office proficiency Experience working on a cross functional team Location : Decatur, AL Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international Relocation Benefits: Are authorized for this position Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
