Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to join our growing facility in Culpeper (Orange County), VA. The successful individual will work under general direction, coordinating and providing occupational health nursing services in accordance with accepted nursing practices and physician's standing orders. Provides and coordinates medical evaluations and treatments in emergency and non-emergency situations. Initiate coordination of workers' compensation program in accordance with Arkansas regulations. Provides and coordinates return to work programs. Assist in the disability case management process by maintaining compliance with ADA, AA and FMLA. Works with direct supervisors to implement appropriate safety and health programs for the prevention of injuries and illnesses in the work place. Provides training programs related to emergency response, safety and OSHA mandated programs such as CPR/ AED/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogen and Respiratory Protection. Assist in site specific environmental, health and safety events and programs. This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) 30% - Administers Medical Surveillance programs per OSHA or company standards, including scheduling and performance of required screenings, data review and provide group data of examinations to determine if protective measures need to be enhanced or evaluated. 20% - Applies strong functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows and applications, OHM software and other specialized software. Maintains electronic records of all interactions with employees in OHM system per protocol, and prepares reports as needed. 20% - Provide immediate assessment and nursing care to injured and/or ill employees. Makes appropriate referrals to panel physician. Provides follow up care and prepares incident or other state required reports. 10% - Performs necessary testing in support of the company's substance abuse policy and random selection program. 8% - Advises and counsels employees on health problems and provides health education information. Refers employees to external healthcare providers. 5% - May assist in required training for medical emergency response teams. 4% - Maintain appropriate medical equipment and supply inventory required for nursing interventions. 3% - Dispense standard drugs and medicines per protocols. Requirements Current Registration in Nursing and two (2) years of related experience. State Registration is required. Basic Life Support CPR/AED US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Possess strong functional computer knowledge. Ability to communicate and interact with employees, managers, insurance representatives and adjusters, medical and legal resources. Physically able to respond to emergency situations in temperature extremes. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Desired Qualification: Three years of related experience. Certifications in Occupational Health, Audiology, and Certification in DOT urine drug collection and Certification in NIOSH spirometry. Certification in CPR/ AED and physically able to perform CPR. Certification as an Instructor for CPR/AED/ First Aid desirable. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.
