The Distribution Analyst is responsible for coordinating and/or performing the planning activities associated with transportation, warehousing, inventory levels, materials handling, order administration and communication networks associated with AZ's transfers of pharmaceutical product from manufacturing sources to the AZ Biologics distribution center. Also, managing the daily automated and conventional shipping operations of the Louisville Distribution Center (LVDC) through utilization of the Warehouse Management System, automated storage and retrieval, and computer aided picking systems to ensure the timely processing of domestic and export orders, customers' orders, free goods/sample requests, stock transfer requests to other AstraZeneca PLP facilities, and other third party requirements and shipments. Furthermore, these responsibilities are achieved in accordance with Integrated Supply Chain Management strategies while adhering to cGMP, GDP, SHE and SOX regulations.
- The position manages AZ's relationships with third party warehousing and logistics providers and provides account management for supply sites.
- Coordinates with Manufacturing, Global Supply and EMEA Distribution to develop Fluenza distribution plan.
- Lead investigator for critical and major deviations
- Develop/oversee change control, proposals, risk assessment and implementation plans, as required
- Provide site leadership /support/representation with regard to corporate projects
- The position is also responsible for managing the inventory levels at the AZ-KY and third party distribution centers and being the focal point for day-to-day issue identification and resolution.
- The position is expected to maintain finished goods inventory at sufficient levels to ensure superior level of service to AstraZeneca's schedule and customers by the efficient application of procedures and analytical tools to satisfy a wide variety of inventory management and stock replenishment scenarios.
SUPPLY POINT COORDINATION:
- Maintain strong relationships and manage the interfaces with intra-company supply sites
- Responsible for continuous improvement process between supply points to minimize lead times and optimize efficiency of supply
- Develop a supply plan (Shipping Schedules) for each product and maintenance of stock levels and customer service for the US/ROW/EU markets.
DISTRIBUTION AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Manage AZ-KY DC export shipping activities, to include the preparation of direct and finished goods materials for shipment, the coordination of export product launches, and the preparation of government, customs, freight forwarder and broker documentation requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Logistics, Management Science or other relevant discipline
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in various aspects of pharmaceutical operations, supply chain and manufacturing, customer products distribution.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve desired business results.
- Demonstrated understanding of an internal/external customer base
- Possess knowledge of customer ordering, inventory practices, and fulfillment processes
- Root cause investigations/analysis skills
- Change control process knowledge/experience
- Technical writing skills
- Proficiency in basic computer skills required including hands-on working knowledge of MS Word, Excel (SAP/APO experience recommended).
- Possess knowledge of applicable regulatory guidelines for pharmaceutical manufacture and distribution
- Good working knowledge of the processes and systems that reside across the supply chain
- Understanding and experience in automated storage and retrieval warehouses and inventory control experience in a computerized environment (e.g., IM/WM/SAP Business System, MSH, CPM, Sortation Control, Pick to Light "Lightning Pick" system and the hardware associated
- An understanding of AstraZeneca products and packing configurations and the ability to translate knowledge into best practices for shipment preparation, trailer loading, product packing, and load stabilization for shipment dispatch
- Understanding of cGMP's, FDA, GDP, DOT, SOX, hazardous materials transportation requirements as well as familiarity with export and Customs guidelines
- A familiarity of good cold chain practices and other transportation related requirements.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to draft and edit SOPs, Job Aids, and Work Instructions
