  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    • Full Training Provided! Regular progression increases and shift differential (for those working 2nd and/or 3rd shift). Selected Candidates will be enrolled in our Apprentice Training program, where they are paired with a Trainer and gradually learn how to set up and operate a designated piece of Bindery equipment. The Apprentice will learn by working alongside the Operator, assisting with paper loading, and boxing product. The Apprentice will learn to set up and maintain major or complex binding equipment (i.e. ink jet and mailing devices, power folders and power collators, power cutters, speed binder, in-line cover-inserter with four-knife trimmer). They will learn to read Job Tickets, which includes the instructions for the equipment, paper and quantity specs and post Bindery instruction. The Apprentice will learn to monitor equipment during operations to ensure tolerances are being maintained and how to make adjustments as necessary. They will also assist with daily maintenance duties such as cleaning machinery to remove paper dust and lint, check pumps and other operating parts for proper lubrication, and lubricate equipment as needed.

    • Under the direction of the operator, apply working knowledge assist in the set-up of more complicated binding machinery
    • Ability to make machine adjustments for differences in paper size or thickness, hole or margin distances, paper folds or other work requirements or material characteristics
    • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and fractions
    • Ability to apply such knowledge while accurately locating materials on machine surfaces
    • Skill in using hand tools (i.e. rulers, screwdrivers, wrenches) to make machine adjustments
    • Ability to set up, arrange, and hand collate as well as to fan, jog and stack various sizes of paper neatly
    • General knowledge to set up and maintain a variety of single function, hand and foot automated bindery machines, such as staplers, punches, drills and binding-glue devices

    Additional Information

    The pay range for this role at the noted location is $17 - $18 / hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
