    Job Description

    This application is for a 6-month student role from January - June 2023. Resume review begins in October 2022.

    The co-op student will be a part of the Neuroimmunology Team within the Multiple Sclerosis and Neurorepair Department. Our team is a small team that meets regularly and has great communication and culture. We are the biology team for one of the top pipeline programs at Biogen and embrace Biogen’s mission by caring about the robustness of our work and striving to have a successful program that will help improve the lives of patients with multiple sclerosis.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    As a co-op, you will work with the biology team of a top pipeline program, to answer key biology questions in preparation for a research-to-development program transition. You will work side-by-side with experienced scientists to learn and become independent in whole blood assays and flow cytometry. This will consist of training in the proper handling of human blood, multi-channel pipetting, 5-laser flow cytometer use, antibody selection, experimental design, and analysis. You will meet weekly and as needed with manager, to go over data, train, and design experiments. They will also take part in pre-clinical, department, and group meetings, where they will be given the opportunity to present their data. You will eventually be expected to work independently and present data analysis to manager on a weekly basis.

    • Whole blood flow cytometry assays

    • Required Skillsets: Detail oriented, basic understanding of cell biology, basic wet lab experience, note taking abilities, and eager to learn.
    • Additional Skillsets: Pipetting, sterile tissue culture, basic understanding of how to do unit conversion calculations, and media prep

    To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
