    Job Description

    This application is for a 6-month student role from January - June 2025. Resume review begins in October 2024.

    We are seeking a creative and self-motivated computational chemist/cheminformatics with excellent communication skills to join the computational chemistry group at Biogen. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply his/her computational chemistry and programming skills to a project of relevance for many pharmaceutical and biotech companies and to work collaboratively with the computational chemistry group to advance the development of the Biogen Generative AI platform as well as Molecular Informatics Open-Source Platform.

    In this position, the candidate will work closely with members of the group and will learn about drug discovery as well as other areas the group is involved in including molecular design and optimization, and machine learning.

    Position Description

    • Implement a molecular shape comparison algorithm based on the published methods.
    • Validate the method in internal data and compare them with commercial software.
    • Implement the user-interface of molecular shape comparison toolkit on Biogen Molecular Informatics Open-Source Platform.
    • Write reports and give presentations to internal/external audience.
    • Publish the project work on GitHub and peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. students pursuing studies in computational chemistry, cheminformatics or relevant field
    • Strong Python programming skills

    To participate in the Biogen Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

    Education

    • A Ph.D. student in cheminformatics, computational chemistry, computer science, or relevant field is preferred

    Location

    • This role is on-site in Cambridge, MA.
