  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The Coater Helper will assist the Coater Operator in the set up, and clean up, of the paint heads and associated consoles of a continuous coating line. They will operate a forklift to pull and stage paint for upcoming orders. They will perform roll replacements and operate a roll grinding Lathe.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Reads, comprehends and interprets production schedules and paint sheets
    • Applies coatings to raw material according to customer specifications
    • Accurately measures and records paint viscosity, wet film, and paint temperature
    • Changes coating rolls
    • Opens paint containers, reads paint and batch numbers, and tracks paint usage by order and container traceability
    • Performs cleanup of coater heads, pans, pumps, etc.
    • Performs cleanup of Chem Coater heads, pans, pumps, etc.
    • Can maintain proper roll ID and usage by recording properly on the Roll Grinding Log
    • Can operate equipment to handle unloading and loading of coating rolls without damage
    • Able to properly use a PI tape and accurately measures roll diameter

    Other Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assists maintenance (when specialized maintenance skills are not required) with line repairs
    • Actively participates in adhering to plant housekeeping requirements by picking up trash, sweeping work areas, and returning materials and equipment to their proper locations
    • Understands and utilizes FIFO procedures in connection with paints, laminates and other materials
    • Places trash materials into proper receptacles
    • Understands RCRA regulations
    • Operates air wrench to remove drum lids
    • Adheres to all safety and work rules
    • Adheres to and follows job specific SOPs and EOPs
    • Assists and trains new employees
    • Maintains regular and on-time attendance
    • Reads and comprehends instructions regarding new equipment, equipment changes and/or procedural changes
    • Performs miscellaneous assignments as directed
    • Applies hazardous waste and hazard class label to dirty solvent drums at coater.
    • Ensures dirty solvent drums are covered when not in use.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High school level reading and writing, visual acuity to read labels, meters, gauges, documents and instructions
    • Ability to work in an industrial or warehouse environment with fork lifts, drum trucks, etc.
    • Ability to safely operate small manual and electric hand tools
    • Available to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, that could include weekends and holidays
