    Location: Indianapolis

    Who we are:

    Control Systems group is made of a diverse group of engineering covering: Software (traditional and model-base), Systems, Electronics, Mechanical, and System (cyber) Security. We work closely together in the design, integration, testing, in-service support, and supply chain management to ensure our customer’s needs are met.

    Control Systems at Rolls-Royce is an integral part of making sure the power and propulsion systems we produce meet customer requirements, and uphold quality, safety, and security standards. The various teams design and maintain the software and hardware that supports the power and propulsion systems deployed around the world.

    • Systems and Software teams: design and develop the systems and software used to control, monitor, and communicate information required to operate an engine,
    • Electronics teams: design the electronic hardware to receive, filter, transmit, and protect our hardware,
    • Mechanical teams: design and work with external suppliers to produce and test the enclosures and sensors required in the integration of all components,
    • Systems Security teams: Design the system and architecture required to make our products resilient against an increasingly diverse and complex range of cyber threats.

    What you'll do:

    Our interns may work on a wide variety of projects to support our customers in areas including Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Electronics covering design, integration, system security, real-time simulation, and test.

    As a Controls Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team in one of the engineering areas previously mentioned while working under the direction of a senior engineer.

    What you’ll need:

    Ideal candidates will have strong demonstrations of interpersonal skills, curiosity, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

    Candidates will be able to:

    • Demonstrate how to identify a problem
    • Demonstrate how to plan and execute a task
    • Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively
    • Demonstrate written and oral communication to a variety of audiences (e.g., team members, technical experts, and management)
    • Demonstration of presentation skills both orally as well as visual management

    The internship role will be based in Indianapolis, IN and will have some occasions for needed travel to the nearby facility in West Lafayette, IN.

    Bachelors Degree or higher

    Relevant Majors:

    Engineering: Software, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer, Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautics, or similar

    STEM: Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science

    Minimum working towards Bachelor’s degree

    Minimum: GPA: 3.0

    Work Authorization Eligibility: U.S. Citizen
