Job Summary
Opportunity:
We are seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician for the Seven Hill-Lynchburg paper mill facility. The E&I Technician will support the manufacturing of gypsum liner paper by providing quality maintenance duties to enhance the mill’s equipment reliability and availability. The E&I Technician will utilize their skills and knowledge of electrical equipment, electronics, instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, and rigging in our continuous paper manufacturing environment to safely help achieve production goals.
Job Duties:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace electrical, electronic, and instrumentation devices.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems.
- Initiate and complete work orders and document all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis.

Required Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- A High School Diploma/GED is required.
- 5+ years of Instrumentation and Electrical experience in a production maintenance environment or equivalent military experience is required.
- Journeyman or proof of completion of related college or apprenticeship program preferred.
- Capable of meeting physical requirements to include working weekends/holidays, working a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and overtime as needed, and working around heat, and noise, both inside and outside.
- Computer skills including MS Office and ability to quickly learn new software used in the department.
- Strong electrical background with experience in 480-volt 3-phase power distribution and Controls.
- Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers and Distributed Control Systems.
- Ability to read and understand Electrical and Instrumentation Drawings and PLC Ladder Logic.
- Experience with variable frequency drives and smart field instruments (i.e., pressure, flow, temperature, level and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators, and PID controllers) is necessary.
- E/I must be able to operate equipment including but not limited to cranes (mobile and stationary), fork trucks, and other lifting devices.
Additional Description
What you need to succeed:
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude required with extensive troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mill-wide electrical power systems, working with AC and DC voltages ranging from 12, 24, and 500 VDC to 120/240, 480, 575, 2300, and AC.
- Install and maintain electrical distribution equipment and components, working with electrical conductors, conduits, cable trays, power panels, and motor control centers.
- Knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, solenoids, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3-phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems
- Ability to install and set up both A/C drives.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot basic 3-phase motor control circuits
- Knowledge of the various types of flow, pressure, level, temperature sensors, and transmitters.
- Working knowledge of control valves.
- Various proximity, flow, pressure, and limit switches.
- A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and instrumentation drawings.
- Must be literate with Microsoft environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
