    International Paper’s Finance Internship Program is designed to provide a personalized and diversified development experience that offers exposure to the company’s business strategy, culture, and full-time Finance Development Program. As part of the Finance team, students will be assigned to various areas of Corporate or Business Finance to provide efficient and effective Finance service delivery that helps drive IP’s business strategy. This internship will last 10-12 weeks and take place between May and August. Students will participate in a variety of events to include assemblies, team projects, peer programs, and voluntary training opportunities that will enhance their ability to contribute in the work they are assigned and supplement their school curriculum.

    Key Responsibilities

    Each intern experience is different and your exposure to some items may vary. This position will be assigned to a part of the overall US Finance structure working with various finance professionals on these key activities:

    • Business Partner: Provides financial analysis including interpretation and application of professional standards, company policies, and processes.
    • Learn, Engage, and Develop (LEAD): Obtain a good understanding of the financial systems, processes, and procedures used across the organization to contribute to meeting or exceeding business goals.
    • Work Systems: Perform data entry and utilize systems as a source of research analysis while also investigating, reviewing, and evaluating various financial transactions and the recommendation of the appropriate treatment.
    • Teamwork: Participate with assigned department teams along with intern team members on projects to gain knowledge around, but not limited to: general ledger, forecasting, budgeting, accounts payable, fixed assets, capital, payroll, reporting, and monthly/quarterly/yearly closing, research and investigation, regulatory compliance, analyzing business results, developing an annual budget, and preparing short term forecasts.
    • Communication: Effectively interact both in-person and via phone, e-mail, instant messaging to assist and support the businesses by performing routine, ad hoc analytical support and other financial assignments such as measuring progress against meeting various objectives as outlined by your department, the business, or the company, as needed.

    Basic Qualifications

    Pursuing your undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics, or related field

    Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

    Applicants must be 18 years old by April 2022 in order to be eligible
