    Exciting opportunity for interns to work on avionics that fly on aircraft of the present and the future!

    We are seeking Interns who would like join our service and repairs group and learn about sophisticated electronic systems that pilots use to fly commercial and military aircraft. Internship opportunities are still available for next spring and summer. We offer competitive pay and a friendly, team environment.

    At Astronautics, one day you can be working on a computer that helps navigate a Boeing commercial jet and the next day on a display system that provides mission information to Air Force F-16 pilots.     Our displays, computers and avionics systems fly on board the most sophisticated aircraft in the world. They are built to last for the life of the aircraft. Our service and repairs department is a key component in ensuring the highest quality products that pilots depend upon. Our Electronics Technicians evaluate and diagnose our products, which require service or repair, and then perform the work to return these products to flight worthy status. Our Interns, working under the guidance of our experienced technicians, will gain hand on experience in diagnosing and repairing these electronic systems using drawings, schematics and test equipment.

    INTERNSHIPS BEGIN SEPTEMBER 2021 OR JANUARY 2022.  Flexible hours during the workweek to accommodate school schedules. 

    Students will gain hands on experience in diagnosing and repairing complex electronic and/or electro-mechanical instruments using drawings, schematics, and test equipment.  This is a first shift, part-time position (minimum 30 hours, M-F).  Work hours are generally 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

    Responsibilities:

    • Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits to the component level
    • Disassemble and reassemble aircraft equipment.
    • Generate summary reports using software programs such as MS Office.
    • Maintain organized work area and self-manage workload to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

     

    Required Skills

    • Must be able to understand written work instructions, drawings and schematics.
    • Must be familiar with MS Word, Excel and Access.
    • Must be able to pass a required electronics test.
    • Must be able to successfully pass Astronautics solder training program.

    Required Experience

    • Enrolled in a technical college with either a minimum of one-year coursework completed towards an Associate degree in electronics or related field of study from an accredited institution, or electronics experience similar to first year coursework.
    • Available to work 30 or more hours per week (weekdays during the day).
    • Able to understand written work instructions, drawings and schematics.
    • Must be familiar with MS Word, Excel and Access.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • GPA 3.0 or greater.
    • Experience in electronic assembly or a manufacturing environment.
