SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Writing software for both embedded and PC based systems in order to support Kearfott’s range of products in the aerospace and defense markets.
- Performing design, analysis, simulation, testing, review, and integration of software subsystems following defined software development processes.
- Scoping and writing of software based requirements.
- Working with a cross functional engineering team to develop and support technically complex systems.
Required Skills
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum of a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in software development.
- Proficiency in C and Python (or similar high level scripting language).
- Ability to read, critically analyze, and perform formal code reviews.
- Ability to write clean and concise code to meet requirements & follow software coding standards.
- Ability to debug code, using software debuggers and/or other means.
- Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or be a U.S. Permanent Residence Card Holder.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Experience writing software for embedded systems and unit testing.
- Familiarity with the concepts of static analysis and code coverage.
- Familiarity with hardware instrumentation such as using JTAG hardware debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
- Experience working with mission critical systems, such as in aerospace or another high assurance environment (automotive, industrial, etc).
- Familiarity/experience with DO-178 / DO-254 standards.
- Experience using Eclipse/TI Code Composer, Atlassian JIRA, IBM DOORS, SciTools Understand is a plus.
