Position Summary The Data Entry Pharmacy Technician responsible for Entering patient, client, and medication demographics; processing orders and furthering them to pharmacist for approval; communicate with customer to get orders completed and delivered; and must possess exceptional customer service skills. Responsibilities 1. Obtain and enter accurate patient demographic information into Life file. 2. Maintain confidentiality of pharmacy information. 3. Identify incomplete orders. 4. Use sound judgement in handling incoming orders. 5. Work closely with the pharmacist to get orders completed. 6. Understand when to escalate calls to a pharmacist supervisor. 7. Complete fax confirmations. 8. Understand the Pharmaceutical Industry?s code of practice. 9. Comply with all state-specific legislations and regulatory requirements. 10. Establish and maintain strong, positive, productive relationships with customer accounts including physicians, office managers, technicians, purchasing agents and/or allied health staff. 11. Assist with order and inventory management including over the counter nutritional supplements. 12. Handle all prescription entry, billing and provide written information, HIPAA notice and business card or pharmacy information card to all new patients. 13. Ensure that all patients have been given the written prescription information and the opportunity for verbal counseling at the time the refill prescriptions are picked up. If it is a new prescription, the clerk must retrieve the pharmacist and only the pharmacist may offer verbal counseling or hear the refusal for verbal counseling on new prescriptions. 14. Handle all POS transactions in an efficient and professional manner. Answer phones quickly and direct calls to the pharmacist promptly. 15. Perform routine inspections on prescription and non-prescription products to ensure their integrity. 16. Assist the pharmacist in any other tasks as directed including pick call reminders to patients. 17. Comply with all California Pharmacy Rules and Regulations from the California Code of Regulations (Title 16, Division 17) and statutes pertaining to Pharmacy Law. Qualifications: 1. Outstanding research and analytical skills. 2. Problem solve rapidly and effectively. 3. Type at minimum, 60 wpm. 4. Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and internet. 5. Pharmacy Technician License. 6. Working knowledge of all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations regarding pharmaceuticals. 7. Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality. 8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent time management and organization skills. 9. Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office software products, including Excel, Outlook, Word. 10. Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to prioritize. 11. Works with a sense of urgency, while engaging and listening to experts. 12. Establish and maintain strong, positive productive relationships with customer accounts including physicians, office managers, and technicians. 13. Embrace and practice teamwork. 14. Ability to have verbal conversation in person or via telephone. 2. Ability to read printed materials. 3. Ability to operate a personal computer and have an understanding of word processing. Must have the ability to work on a computer typing and using a mouse interface for prolonged periods of time and perhaps the entire shift. 4. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and carry the weight for 50 feet. 5. Duties will include repetitive motion of the arms, handle and fingers. 6. Must be able to stand the entire shift with the exception of breaks and meal periods. Experience 3 years of relevant retail pharmacy technician knowledge. Education/Training High School Graduate, Certified Pharmacy Technician Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Competencies 1. Customer/Client Focus. 2.
