  • Responsibilities

    Position Overview and Expectations

    The laboratory intern will be responsible for assisting the color scientists and research manager on the onboarding and implementation of the Colibri color spectrophotometer software as well as supporting other short term laboratory projects and initiatives.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Participate in the general upkeep of the laboratory (5S)
    • Operate laboratory mixing equipment
    • Operate laboratory analytical equipment
    • Work safely with hazardous chemicals and waste
    • Complete special assignments and prepare reports/project summaries, as required
    • Perform stability testing for color fading and product stability per GLP guidelines
    • Utilize appropriate techniques and software as needed to upload and document color
    • Create, maintain, and organize electronic documentation
    • Create, maintain, and organize color standards for upload into color spectrophotometer software

    Qualifications

    • Good mathematical skills – unit conversion, ratio, percentage
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
    • Proficiency with MS Excel

    • Physical Demands: Employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Ability to wear/use personal protective equipment as required such as lab coat, goggles, gloves, masks, etc.
    • Work Environment: This position requires one to work both in an office environment and a lab. Ability to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment. On occasion, may be exposed to light fumes or airborne particles.
