PLZEN (PILSEN), CZECH REPUBLIC Following its establishment in 2012, today Plzen is our fastest growing Engineering Development Center in Europe; the development center works on the design and development of Lear Products related to Mechanical Engineering such as complex seating mechanisms and structures, foams, coatings, plastics, and trim development. Today, there is a headcount of approximately 250 employees. The vision for Plzen is not to work as an internal supplier for our European business units but to develop into a leading Design and Development Center working on projects for all major European OEM customer groups from concept phase through to delivery.

    Commodity Buyer (non-production)

    The Commodity Buyer will drive year on year cost reductions via negotiation, benchmarking and competitive sourcing. The commodity buyer will work independently in the role of a consultant for approximately 80 facilities across Europe & Africa, their targets will be achieved via the most cost-effective suppliers.

     

    AS A COMMODITY LEAD BUYER, YOUR ROLE MAY ALSO INCLUDE:

    · Negotiate Long Term Agreements.

    · Develop Lear Should Cost Models with suppliers.

    · Test global markets to ensure the lowest cost of sourced services and components.

    · Drive year on year cost reductions in line with corporate targets.

    · Develop commodity strategy and manage it in line with market change.

    · Support plants/operations across Europe & Africa

    · Some of the commodities you will be dealing with are engineering services, IT equipment, utilities, business phone tariffs

    TO BE A SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE:

    · Minimum 3 years of experience in a Purchasing function.

    · Strong negotiation abilities, good level of economic awareness, awareness of supplier development tools.

    · Proficiency in English and a second European language advantageous.

    · Highly developed planning and organizational skills, a professional and confident approach.

    · Ability to work under pressure, team player.
