Mechanical Test Engineer No. of Positions 1 Geographic Location San Francisco, California, USA Facility McLaren (USA) Department Engineering Job Description Mechanical Test Engineer This is a hands-on role responsible for in-house testing and failure analysis related to Linamar's automotive conformable hydrogen pressure vessel technology. The engineer will also be responsible for shop management and logistics. Work will be done in collaboration with a small team of mechanical engineers. McLaren Engineering, the engineered products division of Linamar Corporation, is a company focused on the design, development and testing of advanced automotive driveline and powertrain systems. Linamar Corporation recently acquired a conformable hydrogen pressure vessel technology from Volute Inc., and this technology is being developed in the new San Francisco office of McLaren Engineering. This position is located in San Francisco, CA (no relocation assistance offered). Key Accountabilities: · Design and conduct tests of tanks and tank components using in-house test equipment · Analyze and document test results, and conduct failure analysis through sample dissection · Operate and maintain/repair custom test equipment, including high pressure hydraulic equipment · Manage the facilities of a small testing and prototyping shop; organize tools and test samples; maintain a clean, safe, and organized work space · Design and build test fixtures · Manage shipping and receiving logistics and conduct quality inspection of prototype samples · Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facilitys geographic location and: o The Global Operating System Plays o OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standard o ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management system standard o TS 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards · Support, Foster, Promote & Demonstrate Core Values and Leadership Behaviors · Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department performance Indicators to align to Linamars Stepping Stool of Success Strategy · Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements o Maintain department 5S requirements · Familiarity with McLarens Business Management System (BMS) · This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of this position and it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities or working conditions associated with the position.
