    JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

    RESEARCH ASSOCIATE III

    • POSITION WILL START IN WALKERSVILLE, MD BUT WILL RELOCATE TO ROCKVILLE, MD AT THE END OF 2018
    • This research associate for protein production media will execute studies associated with the development and optimization of cell culture media formulations for both catalog and custom products. The top three desired skills include bioreactor based cell culture expertise, media chemistry formulation capabilities, and post-translational modification analysis.

    THIS POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PERFORMING MEDIA OPTIMIZATION SERVICE PROJECTS AND STUDIES FOR NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT.

    • Executes experimental plans, analyzes experimental data, writes technical reports
    • Creates new media formulations from raw materials, cultures cells in different labware and in a variety of media
    • Assays cell number, viability, protein production, protein quality and spent media conditions
    • Makes recommendations for customer media optimizations
    • Maintains accurate documentation and confidentiality of both external and internal data
    • Tracks project progress toward milestones and deadlines
    • May present results directly to customers
    • May present data at scientific conferences (external and internal)
    • This is a lab based position
    • Hands-on experience with culturing mammalian cells,bioprocessing workflows, and process development
    • Cell culture experience with cell lines used in protein production applications (CHO, HEK293, NS0, Insect) is required
    • Prior experience with scale-down models of bioreactors including high-throughput cell culture technologies (e.g. ambr15) is required
    • Prior experience with design of experiment (DOE) setup and analysis is preferred
    • Prior experience with post-translational modifications is desired
    • Good communication skills in both written and oral forms for both internal and external presentations
    • Knowledge of GLP and/or GMP work environments
