Job Description
The material handler is responsible for the movement of material throughout the site. This may include loading/unloading of trailers and movement of raw materials, work in process (WIP) and finished goods.
This role is for A shift, 8:00am - 4:00pm.
Activities and duties may vary, dependent upon site-specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finishing, Shipping, Receiving and manufacturing areas
Unload/load trucks/tankers with incoming/outgoing materials
Verify materials against Receiving/Shipping documents
Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System
Support inventory accuracy: Complete warehouse and departmental cycle counts and correct discrepancies. Help manage winding drum and rack inventories
Raw/Finishing warehouse: Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets and other consumable supplies to/from production areas, as required
Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping
Perform all assignments, duties and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately
Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity
Maintain a safe, clean work area
Assist in equipment maintenance activities, as directed
Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations
Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard and scrap materials
Support all 5S housekeeping activities
Perform other duties, as assigned by supervisor
The hourly rate for this position is $18.94-$22.73 / hour.
The hiring wage rate range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must be able to follow written and oral instruction
Must regard safety as a core value; must serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures
Must have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / education team in a timely manner

Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests
Must demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong MFGPro transactional skills
