Position Summary & Basic Materion offers specialty processing of strip metals through our unique stretch bend leveling and rolling processes. These capabilities remove residual stresses and produce exceptionally flat tolerances, even with high strength composites and specialty alloys. Materions stretch bend leveling and metal rolling processes offer unique capabilities to our customers and deliver performance advantages for many demanding, high-reliability applications. Our services include: provide the flattest stress-free strip and best shape tolerances in the industry, produce gauge tolerances far beyond standard mill tolerances, and using atmospherically-controlled strip furnaces. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Material Processor in the Rolling Mill Department is key in assisting with meeting the departments goals by performing machine set-up, maintaining quality standards, meeting daily production targets, and troubleshooting equipment when required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. The Material Processor is responsible for coil handling which involves removing coils from skids, loading coals to the payoff, and measuring gauge and width if the material with measuring devices This position sets up the designated Rolling Mill machine including interpreting process sheets, setting machine parameters, and using lubrication This position is also responsible for operating the machine while adhering to quality parameters and in-process checks This role also makes mechanical adjustments as needed Performs data entry into the SAP software system Maintains a clean work area Operate lifting devices as trained by The Materion Safety Team EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Requirements At least 2-3 years of previous manufacturing experience required Experience with performing multiple complex set ups preferred Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Technical training is preferred but not required Experience in a metals industrial setting preferred but not required Previous rolling mill machine operating preferred ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This position is assigned for second shift Physical Demands and Working Environment The employee is required to work in a manufacturing setting that may be cold or hot depending on the season The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, walk, stand, stoop, or crouch The employee frequently is required to talk or hear The employee may lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to high Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position assigned to an eight hour shift, whether it be first, second, or third.
