    The program:

    The Performance team does the thermodynamic cycle design, simulation, and analysis of engines and power systems at a whole system level.

    What you’ll do:

    As an intern, you will be exposed to a wide range of technical activities ranging from development of computer models from engineering first principles, thermodynamic simulation, empirical modelling, understanding of certification requirements and physical testing. In addition, you may be asked to learn integration skills to allow requirements, data, and product understanding to be gathered and disseminated across various stake holders (e.g. internal sub-system and component teams, airframers, regulatory authorities and customers).

    Key Accountabilities

    • Develop definition of the product thermodynamic cycle.
    • Learn and utilize Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) with background Thermodynamics, Test Analysis, and Air Breathing Propulsion
    • Provide prediction and analysis of product attributes at the whole system/platform level.
    • Use coding skills to build automation of data processing tasks
    • Utilize data visualization to communicate technical results

    What you’ll need:

    • Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and Matlab

    Preferred qualifications (but not required):

    • Experience in the performance-related support of the design and/or development of thermodynamic cycles
    • Expertise in code development and configuration management in a collaborative environment.
    • Knowledge in robust design techniques and visualization including statistical software such as JMP

    Standing/Graduation eligibility : Candidate will be working towards a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in an applicable major relevant to the role. Candidate must be returning to classes in the fall following the internship to be eligible.
