    Apprentice Process Instrumentation and Controls Technician ROLE SUMMARY Working within the Reliability Maintenance environment, performs preventive maintenance, modifies, installs, and maintains company process control systems and provides customer training in the implementation of those systems in compliance with company standards and procedures and government regulations (SOPs, GMPs, GLPs, PSM, etc). Can serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem solving methodology, project scope and follow up. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES * The Process Instrument and Controls person installs, configures, maintains and repairs complex computer systems, from Process Logic Controllers to Distributive Control Systems. They will configure, calibrate, maintain and repair state of the art electronic ("smart") process measuring and control instruments, while still maintaining expertise in older technologies, such as pneumatic. They have to be aware of and adhere to all electrical codes, particularity intrinsic safety. * Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, repair, and a proactive maintenance of systems and equipment in a cost effective manner. * Develops solutions to routine problems following established Pfizer policies and procedures. Communication in developing and implementing solutions is critical. * Participates in multi-craft work activities as required. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS * Apprentice Education Requirements: High school diploma / general education degree (GED) or Associates Degree. Two years Process Instrumentation and Controls related experience preferred. * Basic computer user skills are required. * Completion of the company apprenticeship program or its equivalent is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Computer user skills (Microsoft systems). * Blue print reading a plus * Electrical diagram reading is a plus * Excellent communications Skills * Strong work ethic * Self-Starter with ability to work independently PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Routinely exposed to hazardous materials, heights, temperature extremes, equipment in motion, noisy, dusty and dirty conditions, stooping, bending and heavy lifting. The proper use of the correct Personal Protective Equipment for each task as well as compliance with all applicable safety Standard Operating Procedures is a must. NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS May work variable shifts and 24 hour on call as required.
