  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    • Establish the production process for commercial print work produced.
    • Supply clear, understandable job layouts, tickets, purchase orders, etc.
    • Calculate production times after considering factors such as size, quantity, paper stock, art, and number of colors, and outside service/finishing requirements
    • Coordinate the manufacturing of jobs with outside service suppliers after negotiating pricing and scheduling of materials.
    • Work closely with managers, supervisors, and production personnel to develop, review and/or confirm information regarding various manufacturing plans.
    • Evaluate pricing from outside vendors.
    • Participate in identifying new outside vendors with capabilities that exceed or meet current supplier capability.
    • Work closely with managers, supervisors, and production personnel to develop, review and/or confirm new, improved planning and manufacturing methods.
    • Following up on jobs to evaluate why they performed better or worse than planned and incorporate the knowledge gained from this evaluation into the estimating/planning processes.
    • Create press imposition layouts
    • Calculate stock usage per press and bindery production standards
    • Review lasers, check color break, page count, size, crossovers, trim, etc.
    • Resolve issues and consult with sales, customer service, prepress, press or bindery staff to resolve issues affecting production
    • Complete job ticket documentation in system

    Disclosure:

    The national pay range for this role is $62,800 to $111,400 annually. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.     Qualifications

    • 3+ years experience job planning for a commercial print operation, resulting in an in-depth understanding of web and sheetfed print, bindery and digital print processes, capabilities and workflow.
    • Solid understanding of web and sheetfed commercial print, 4-color process, imposition, layouts, bindery processes (trim, folding configuration, etc.), plus working knowledge of paper and paper calculation.
    • Excellent problem-solving ability and the skills required to creatively resolve competing priorities and workflow issues. Sound decision-making skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability to learn and leverage new systems.
    • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
    • High degree of organization, accuracy and dependability.
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to work additional hours as needed
