    Job Description

    We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to become part of the Ulbrich Precision Alloys team located in New Bedford, MA. Ulbrich Precision Alloys is a global producer of high-performance materials and solutions for a variety of markets. We partner with our customers to deliver extraordinary materials that enable our customers to reach new heights with their demanding applications.

    We’re seeking Process Engineer in a pivotal role within our facility in New Bedford, MA. You’ll be responsible for leading and optimizing processes across various stages of production, such as finishing, for Nickel, Titanium, and specialty steel products. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in metallurgical or materials science engineering to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and safety while supporting the development and standardization of new products and processes.

    Other Responsibilities Include:

    • Technical lead for various processes including melting, press forging, radial forging, hot rolling, heat treatment and finishing of Nickel, Titanium and specialty steel products.
    • Provide technical support to continuously improve processes, yields and resolve process-related non-conformances.
    • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Quality personnel to develop improvements to manufacturing processes and standards that enhance safety in the workplace, equipment performance and product quality.
    • Lead or participate in team-based continuous improvement activities including risk assessments (RAA), problem solving reports (PSR), process audits and standard work.
    • Support internal/external customers by analyzing thermo-mechanical processing data.
    • Support Product Engineering and R&D in the development, evaluation and standardization of new products and processes.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • B.S. or M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering.
    • Six Sigma or related certification
    • Proficient in statistical data analysis.
    • One year of experience in a related industry preferred.
    • Skills:
    • Strong technical background with a focus on metals processing and structure/property relationships.
    • Technical writing/oral presentation skills.
    • Good interpersonal communication skills at all levels.
    • Eager to learn and become a technical expert & primary point of contact in area of responsibility.
    • Comfortable being on the shop floor observing processes, providing guidance and interfacing with operators.
    • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and requirements to shop floor personnel in a clear, concise manner.
    • Self-starter and ability to work independently as well as on a team.
    • Uses scientifically rigorous, data driven approach to problem solving.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining composure and meeting established deadlines.
