    SUMMARY

    Maintains the productivity and quality levels of product. Process  the shipping and receiving of loads from loading/unloading to system recognized receipt/ship confirm.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Receiving

      • If unassisted, inspect trailer for security outside the building, Open the trailer and inspect for load integrity, odors, and damage. Unload trailer. Sorting by item and lot code.
      • Process receipt
      • Tag for missing information.
      • Tag for incoming inspection.
    • Other duties as may be assigned.

    • Evaluate any changes required/requested within 2 weeks.

    • Check pallet and carton count before signing the BOL.

    • Verify items and PO #'s with the packing list.

    • Break down and wrap pallets.

    • Sort out the mixed items.

    • Performs manual and clerical duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment and finished products shipped via internal freight fleet or third party LTL carrier. 

    • May perform activities related to load planning of outbound trucks to meet customer delivery requirements and cost parameters. 

    • Utilize small hand tools and operates material handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, etc. to stage materials and load trucks. 

    • Typical shipping activities include checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations. 

    • Pack goods for shipment according to specifications equipment characteristics, transportation methods and routes. 

    • Verify identification and quality of product, prepare bills of lading, post weight and shipping charges, stamp, stencil or attach information and shipping instructions on containers, load shipment onto trucks, and maintain inventory of cartons, tapes, crates, clamps, foam and other packing material. 

    • Typical receiving activities include taking receipt of raw materials, components or equipment and unload from trucks primarily using a forklift truck and pallet jacks.  Check incoming materials against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., verifying nomenclature, identification and quantity of the materials. 

    • Maintaining records of goods received and damaged goods. 

    • May be tasked with performing ancillary duties related to Production Expediting coordinating the movement of materials throughout the plant.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Good oral and written communication skills.

    • High school diploma.

    • Prefer prior experience in a production atmosphere.

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    • Ability to instruct and provide feedback to employees.

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    • Qualified candidate must possess proficient computer skills to include excel (including spreadsheets, the ability to filter, subtotal reports and use pivot tables) word-processing, database management, and e-mail.

    • Individual should not have a fear of heights and will be trained and certified in the operation of a forklift.

    • Must be detail oriented, efficient, self-motivated, and have good cognitive skills.

    • Demonstrate and promote teamwork on a consistent basis within the department and when assisting in other areas.

    • Must have an organized approach to task completion and excellent attention to detail.

    • Ability to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at a level of detail required to resolve issues.

    • Weekend work and overtime hours may sometimes be required to meet customer demands.

    • Regular attendance is required

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

    • Ability to identify when an error is presented and take appropriate action

    • Maintain fork truck license for receiving.

    • Ability to share information internally and externally for the organization.
