    Job Description

    This position is 2nd shift Shipper, 3pm - 11pm, eligible for shift differential. Assists with daily activities of shipping department regarding materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling and shipping printed product. Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples and finished product mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS and other similar carriers. Ensures product is produced and prepared according to customer specifications and service level agreements.

    • Performs manual and clerical duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment and finished products shipped via freight or third party LTL carrier.
    • Typical shipping activities include: checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations, packing goods for shipment according to specifications, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges and attach information and shipping instructions on to boxes.
    • Perform typical activities related to receiving materials such as unloading trucks; checking against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., identification and quantity; maintaining records of goods received.
    • Utilize small hand tools and operates material handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, etc. to stage materials and load trucks.
    • Must be able to be certified to operate a forklift.
    • Stages product to be moved or shipped
    • Performs routine daily inspections on hoist and assures maintenance needs are reported
    • May include battery service duties such as inspecting, recharging and replacing batteries of electrical leads and battery poles and lubricating truck's moving parts
    • May include changing LP/Propane
    • Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out-tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies
    • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must know how high, wide, and long the fork lift truck and its load are, and how much the fork lift truck can lift
    • Ability to identify how high and wide a doorway and an aisle must be to drive the fork lift truck and its load; how high and wide the shelf, bin, etc., must be to place the load; and how high the load must be lifted to reach the shelf or bin
    • Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without need for detailed instructions
    • Skilled in moving fork lift trucks about in places where there is very little room to stack or remove loads
    • Greater knowledge and skill than Hoist Operator 1 in the handling of controls for driving fork lift and/or clamp trucks
    • Must be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backings, and driving fork lift trucks through narrow aisles in building, up and down ramps, and in and out of railroad cars, trucks, etc.; and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls
    • Must be able to recognize whether the fork lift truck is able to lift the load and whether the load is properly balanced

    The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $16.00 - $18 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
