    Job Description

    Overview:

    Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the development of accurate, timely, and detailed cost estimates on a variety of work as presented by Sales, including complex and unique arrangements requiring the comparison of multiple options to build an appropriate quote/estimate. Senior Estimators receive specifications from Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Sales, and are responsible for clarifying or assembling any missing information, interpreting the data, and taking into consideration the business, location, platform assets, and schedules necessary to produce the request to build an estimate and recommend pricing scenarios that best fit the customer needs. Senior Estimators work and negotiate both internally and externally with vendors to determine best fits and build appropriate cost estimates used in establishing sell prices.

    Responsibilities:

    • Receive job specifications from Customer Service, Manufacturing, or Sales.
    • Review job specifications and apply knowledge of pricing and manufacturing to ensure that all aspects of the customer's project have been addressed and accounted for.
    • Contact Sales to gather missing/incomplete information required to price a job.
    • May be asked to Train other estimators in the platform.
    • Work independently on the best way to produce products.
    • Could work with the assigned platform or other platforms within RRD to determine methods of production.
    • May also work with outside vendors to compare and evaluate our assets with outside assets to develop the best pricing scenario.
    • Good understanding of and may be considered an expert at the specific platforms and has a good understanding of other RRD platforms.
    • Use pricing systems/software to assist in building pricing scenarios.
    • Consider and make decisions related to appropriate manufacturing equipment groups, platform assets, locations, and schedules to best match the customer's delivery requirements and offer the best price option.
    • May review historical estimates to determine the new estimate.
    • May make alterations to scenarios to offer customers multiple options.
    • Work with manufacturing operations on new or unique opportunities to ensure projects can be produced in-house.
    • May engage Sourcing on work that requires outside vendors to produce and establish a cost basis.
    • Consider other financial implications during estimating to establish desired margins.
    • Facilitate the management approvals required for price levels and contract terms.
    • Review historical quotes on renewals and update pricing to current costs.
    • Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 5 or more years of relevant manufacturing/estimating experience, or relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment that compliment the duties of the job
    • Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job.
    • May provide oversight of work conducted by junior-level staff and/or review/audit work for accuracy.
    • Must have very good or advanced knowledge of technology including computers and software programs such as MS Office or MAC word processing, spreadsheets, or other programs specific to the job in order to complete job duties successfully.
    • Must have very good oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments and to explain departmental policy, methods, and/or procedures when completing assignments.
    • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workload and make adjustments to meet business needs, and coordinate phases of work with others.

    Additional Information

    The national pay range for this role is $62,800 to $111,400 / year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
