ID: -67740 -Office Location: -NA-US-CA-Fremont-Factory -Job Shift: -Job Type: -Intern -Description -The Role Project engineers on the Material Flow Engineering team will be part of a team of engineers that are responsible for the efficient and reliable flow of material to the Tesla manufacturing lines. As a project engineer you are responsible for managing technical projects from cradle to grave. This includes the design and implementation of automated material handling equipment such as automated storage systems, robotics, automated case and pallet conveyance, automated guided vehicles, fixtures, etc. Project engineers own the design and technical scope of a project as well as traditional project management functions such as timelines, budgets and coordinations with vendors and other groups within Tesla. The key objective of the Material Flow team is developing new and innovative solutions that enable Tesla to achieve its ambitious manufacturing goals. All of these solutions are initially planned and implemented at the Tesla Factory located in Fremont, California, but will eventually be implemented in all factories built by Tesla globally. Team Overview and Responsibilities: Develop and implement new and innovative material handling solutions that leverage automated systems to achieve Teslas goal of highly automated manufacturing processes that can be replicated in facilities all over the world. -Develop analytical models to establish design criteria and overall system performance criteria -Responsible for specifying equipment in form of project specifications and requirements -Leveraging outside partners for solution development and design -Support the overall layout and system design process including AutoCad layouts, modeling and simulation of individual technologies and entire systems Technical project management and implementation -Manage budget, timeline and scope -Manage the installation of equipment on site -Support trouble-shooting during installation and start-up -Smooth handoff to operations at Tesla factory locations -Effectively communicates and collaborates openly with vendors, internal management and other mechanical and control engineers on the Material Flow Engineering team. Required Skills and Qualifications -Currently working towards a bachelor, masters degree, or MBA. Areas of study in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or packaging. -3+ internship, project, or work experience related to this area of expertise. -Ability to effectively communicate verbally and excellent time management skills. -Ability to relocate for the duration of your internship.
