Production Associate/Material Handler -Req. ID: -69808 -Office Location: -NA-US-CA-Fremont-45500 Fremont Blvd -Job Shift: -Job Type: -Employee -Description -The Role: Production Associates and Material Handlers are member of the Manufacturing Production Team. A Production Associate will participate in the development and application of Teslas Production System for the construction and assembly of Tesla vehicles. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in hands-on assembly and the application of production systems in any type of manufacturing environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside. A Material Handler will be driven to succeed and will be responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations of the Fremont warehouse and supporting line side duties. This will include assisting production and warehouse by locating and acquiring parts from the production line, transferring them to the correct location, supporting production by conveying inventory to manufacturing lines and packing out the quantities for our offsite locations. The Material Handler will also stock and organize parts inventory. Must be able to perform wide array of essential functions across a number of production and manufacturing lines and work areas, as business needs require. Production Associate Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Safely use Teslas Production System for the construction and assembly of Tesla vehicles -Performing standardized work process and following defined work instructions and sequences at a defined pace, repetitively for an extended period of time, and rotating as required -Using tools that may produce vibration during use -Using complex tooling that requires specialized training -Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines -Evaluating the assembly processes and equipment to look for continuous improvement opportunities, and suggesting and implementing new ideas that improve quality, safety, cost, or support the production work environment -Escalating functional and process failures to the appropriate support groups and leaders -Collaborating with colleagues, including but limited to production and engineering groups -Developing and following non-verbal communication (visual management: signs, work place organization, and pictures) -Understanding and adhering to required procedures, policies, and processes -Quickly adjusting to immediate process changes due to process/shop improvement -Maintaining a safe and collaborative working environment -Understanding and using in the manufacturing and process Experience and Qualifications (Production Associate): -Previous hands-on assembly experience and the application of production systems in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred -High School Diploma or equivalent, or evidence of exceptional ability -MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) experience -Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal -Must be at least 18 years of age Material Handler Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Assembly of crates and containers -Ensuring that material is safely and securely packaged for shipment, or storage -Ensuring that shipments are packed with all required material, including barrier bags, desiccants, ESD grounding, etc. -Properly transact materials in MES, and MOS -Conveyance of packaged material -Support production by conveying parts between the distribution center and manufacturing lines -Misc. material handling activities as needed -Optimize packaging for all outbound shipments -Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies -Manage space optimization within the distribution center -Ensure timely receiving, stocking, picking, packing and shipping of inventory to store locations and external customers -Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts and load gratings -Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages and items on a continuous and repetitive basis -Ability to use or learn modern technology, laptops, scanners, RFID, etc. -Ability to work well as part of a team is mandatory -Punctuality and a professional, can-do attitude are a must -A commitment to adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines -Ability to work independently and keep on task in a manufacturing and process Experience and Qualifications (Material Handler): -Previous parts and material handling experience preferred (3+ years) with in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or comparable environment -Robust forklift driving experience and acceptable safety record - current forklift certification strongly preferred -High School Diploma or equivalent, or evidence of exceptional ability -MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) experience -Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal -Must be at least 18 years of age All potential
