    Tool & Die Maker A Apprenticeship - Company The Boeing Company Job ID 1800076693 Date posted 11/12/2018 Location Auburn Washington United States Job Description This 5-year apprenticeship is 10,000 hours in length (9,200 on-the-job hours and 800 school hours) and includes paid on-the-job training and unpaid classroom education. The first 20% of the on-the-job training is a probationary period. Apprentices attend school for 160 unpaid hours per school year (four hours each week) at the SSC Georgetown Apprenticeship and Education Center and other locations as needed. Apprentice wages are defined in Article 17 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Apprentices begin at labor grade zero and advance one labor grade for every 1000 apprenticeship hours. Graduates are placed in the target job at the maximum rate and receive a Journey-worker Certificate and Card - recognized worldwide. Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age; must be eligible for hire or rehire at Boeing; must never have been enrolled in or completed an IAM/Boeing Joint Apprenticeship program; must be a high school graduate (or equivalent).; and must have US person status as defined by Boeing. Minimum Qualifications: There are two ways to apply for this apprenticeship program: Vocational Training or Work Experience. To qualify through vocational training, complete all of the courses listed at - for this trade prior to submittal of an application. To qualify through work experience, the minimum requirement is one year of trade related work experience. Please note that all applicants both vocational and work experience, must complete an Assessment or course within the last 5 years at their local Washington State community or technical college. The applicant must have minimum placement results or course completion as follows: Math Intermediate Algebra, English 90. An Assessment may be completed prior to the time of application, but no later than 14 days following a request for document verification. Tool and Die Makers plan, lay out, fabricate, make, assemble, maintain and repair such typical tools and dies* as: forming and joggle dies; tools, required for the fabrication of detail parts, that require coordinated tolerances and involve more than one working plane and/or involve obtuse, acute or right angle construction; dies such as push-through, blanking, piercing, cut-off, compound and deep draw dies. Fabricate, assemble and repair components of the more difficult** tools and dies, including installation, maintenance, and testing of hydraulic and/or pneumatic actuators. Setup any and all dies in forming presses to perform tryout and ensure workability of tools and dies. Recommend changes in dies, or recommend complete redesign of dies in order to accomplish better deep drawing operations.
