    Job Description

    Western Digital is looking for an entry level UX Designer with a strong visual UI design foundation and portfolio of work samples to join our team. As a designer, you will play an integral part in making Western Digital’s eCommerce properties both intuitive and visually compelling. You will design interfaces through constant iterations from wireframe to high fidelity and translate marketing and branding strategies into successful and engaging creative content using software such as Adobe XD, PSD, and AI. Your day-to-day tasks will consist of brainstorming concepts in a highly collaborative environment, translating complex requirements into simple solutions, applying your sense of aesthetics to create clean, modern designs, and more. Your ability to understand our users, and delight them, will not only be welcomed but celebrated.

    • Collaborate — make thoughtful and innovative design decisions cross-functionally together with fellow artists and designers, researchers, engineers, PMs, and other functions.
    • Create - effectively translate marketing and branding strategies into successful and engaging creative content. 
    • Design — own a part of our design system, utilizing, expanding, and creating new patterns while keeping in mind the big picture.
    • Prototype — realistically communicate page flows, animations, and other interactive elements of your design to stakeholders and engineering.
    • Test — collaborate with UX researchers to test designs with real users
    • Be Flexible — display and utilize good knowledge on platform-specific guidelines, and ignore them when you see fit
    • Follow Through — Working with authors and software engineers to implement designs and solve complex problems as they arise.

    SKILLS

    • At least 1-3 years of experience 
    • Excellent Visual design skills for User interface design and preferably Modern and minimalistic style
    • Familiarity with front-end languages and frameworks (ie. HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
    • Great communication skills — You can articulate your design decision
    • A passion for transactional web design, from ideation to implementation
    • Experience in interaction and interface design for responsive websites
    • Working with project managers and presenting to stakeholders
    • Translating requirements into interactive and visual designs
    • Creating graphical assets, photography, and other visual design deliverables to be included in the product
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud platform (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
    • Design both mock ups, interactive prototypes, and components using Adobe XD
    • Familiarly with Google Material design patterns
    • Up to date on newest design trends

    NICE TO HAVE

    • BA/BS/MSA in related field
    • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
    • Experience with SAP Hybris
    • Atomic design / component-based design
    • Experience with Motion Design
    • 3D modeling and animation
    • Product and lifestyle photography experience
    • Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 Accessibility guidelines (color contrasts, typography sizing, etc.)
    • Photo editing and retouching

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS DETAILS

    • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
    • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado.  This range may be modified in the future.
    • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
