    As the DIRECTOR, TOTAL REWARDS with LIBERTY DIVERSIFIED INTERNATIONAL, is a business partner across the organization in the strategy development, management, and execution of benefit, compensation and wellness programs for Liberty Diversified International (LDI). The Total Rewards director is responsible for delivering a comprehensive program that attracts & retains talent, promotes employee engagement and aligns with company values, while effectively managing costs.

    This full-time position reports directly to the CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER and is located at LDI’s headquarters in MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA.

    Required Skills

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

     

    • Designs, develops and implements a total rewards philosophy and strategy for LDI, ensuring alignment with company values and business strategy.
    • Identifies the initiatives, processes and operational plans necessary to achieve the strategy.
    • Leads the compensation and benefits team in focusing on cost-effectiveness as well as market competitiveness in the design of policies and programs for structure development, salary budgets, and design and delivery of variable pay incentives (short and long-term).
    • Manages policy development, administration, and record-keeping of healthcare plans, retirement plans, and other benefits plans.
    • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local benefit laws and regulations. Keeps leadership informed of new developments and disseminates the information as necessary. Prepare and file required legal benefit reports and serve as a liaison with outside auditors.
    • Lead annual renewal and open enrollment process and provide recommendations to executive management for changes to existing programs and proposals for new benefit offerings
    • Manages relationships with brokers, vendors, consultants, and regulatory agencies. Evaluates vendor performance, provides improvement feedback, and makes recommendations for change as necessary.
    • Negotiates contracts for services and programs with outside vendors/brokers to obtain cost-effective, maximum coverage for employees for all areas of responsibility.
    • Analyzes market trends, best practices, and competitive landscape in order to evaluate and recommend changes that will enhance the company’s ability to attract and retain top talent. Ensures our programs and offerings support our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
    • Coordinates investment committee meetings and activities.
    • Works with Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Financial Officer and other partners to develop and prepare all analysis for compensation and benefits materials that must be integrated into the budget planning process.
    • Partners with CHRO on development or changes in executive compensation and benefits, coordinating with the Board of Directors as necessary.
    • Partners with HR leadership to develop, execute and communicate key programs to managers and employees.
    • Support M & A activities as they relate to benefits and compensation.
    • Collaborate with internal and/or external HR Technology/Operations resources to develop and deliver new communications and reporting tools.
    • Partner with sales management on the design and implementation of sales compensation programs.
    • Select, develop and evaluate team members to ensure effectiveness and alignment with current and future goals and initiatives.
    • Other duties, as assigned.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related degree and/or related field.  Masters Degree in Human Resources or related degree preferred. 
    • 10+ years in progressive roles of relevant experience within compensation and benefits
    • 3 years managing a team of compensation and benefits professionals.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Demonstrated ability handling sensitive, confidential information.
    • Strong negotiations skills
    • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional), CBP (Certified Benefits Professional), CEBS certification
    • SPHR or PHR Certification
    • Proven ability to gauge effectiveness of the organization's compensation and benefits programs and translate data into solutions to continually improve programs and practices.
    • Demonstrated experience in compensation plan design and implementation, including executive compensation.
    • In depth functional knowledge of contemporary and best HR practices and processes in the area of performance and reward management
    • A creative approach to problem solving, with a humble, team oriented and optimistic attitude.
    • Ability to think strategically and objectively. Effectively translates data into actionable insights, strategies, and financial plans.
    • Leadership skills balanced with a willingness to play a 'hands-on' role with key projects.
    • Ability to effectively translate complex information into clear and effective messages.
    • Strong verbal and written presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way and to tailor key messages and presentation style to multiple audiences.
