    Job Description

    Consider a career as an QA Engineer with Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT). In this role, you will join a dynamic team of outstanding software engineers, QA engineers, product managers and those with a variety of backgrounds and degrees in biology, humanities, and physics, who are working to build software to help make drivers smarter and roads safer.

    As a QA Engineer, you will translate requirements into testable hypotheses and find ways to test them. Through the process, you will become an expert in at least one aspect of our product and ensure that this piece functions well in service of the whole. You will also debug both technology and business processes, expose hidden assumptions and hidden risks, and develop solutions in order to deliver the best software possible. You will perform detailed experiments using CMT software and hardware, establishing expected behavior and exposing unexpected issues as a result. You will have the opportunity to figure out new technology and find bugs is more important than your major or your previous job titles. You will also have the opportunity to grow with this role, as our experimentation and simulation tools grow as well.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with our Product team to review requirements; provide timely and meaningful feedback
    • Work with our Mobile developers to review implementation details and documentation
    • Writing detailed test plan documentation and structures for drive-related experiments with Android and iOS smartphones
    • Gain significant exposure to exciting new developments in mobile sensing, IoT firmware, and large-scale analytics / machine learning.
    • Performing exploratory or hypothesis-based testing and troubleshooting complex systems
    • Prepare for and perform drive-related experiments and testing, for up to several hours per day
    • Investigate unexpected test results or behavior by reviewing logs, running analysis scripts, querying databases, etc.
    • Perform exploratory testing and document results
    • Identify, record, document, and track bugs
    • Coordinate with teammates to share and document knowledge, and improve tools and processes

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering or quantitative field

    • 1+ years of experience in a role that includes information collection, data analysis, and/or experimentation

    • Python scripting language skills

    • Proficiency with SQL

    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

    • Ability to take minimal direction and figure out the details (e.g., by reading documentation, experimenting with the software, or asking questions)

    • Ability and desire to perform mobile software and hardware testing that requires driving

    • Experience in developing or troubleshooting mobile apps on iOS and Android a plus

    • Admin-level skill in Linux a plus
