    Software Engineering Intern - Studios, Summer 2019 Job ID 603769BR Location Glendale, California, United States Business The Walt Disney Studios Date posted Oct. 25, 2018 Job Summary: As part of Studio Technology, the intern will be working in a team of multi-disciplined technologists and engineers on creating the next generation applications ecosystem for our film, music and stage play businesses. Interns will participate in overall system design, come up with solutions that emphasize re-use, performance, scaling and other good design patterns. Responsibilities: * Participate in defining, architecting and building high-quality software solutions * Collaborate with other software engineers and cross-functional teams * Contribute new ideas to a larger community of high-caliber professionals * Bring your experience to solve difficult problem and gain new experience through working with others * Interface with various outside entities for work on integration points * Work with senior team members and Business stakeholders on figuring out the best technical solutions for business problems Basic Qualifications: * Very passionate about coding * Very passionate about OO design and aware of the different layers that exist in a system * Capable of leveraging basic Data structures and algorithms to solve problems * Interested in technologies such as Kotlin, Scala, Reactor, etc. * Knowledge of: * Java * Spring (or another DI platform) * REST APIs * Unit tests * Git * Maven or Gradle * ORM (e.g JPA, Hibernate) Preferred Qualifications: * GraphQL knowledge * Worked with DynamoDB or RDS * Familiar with Kafka/RabbitMQ * Familiar with ELK * Familiar with Kubernetes * Familiar with Angular/Node or React * Familiar with AWS Lambda or other serverless technologies Required Education Junior or Senior Level undergraduate student or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduation) pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development, or related field. Additional Information: Internship Eligibility: * Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship * Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. * Must be at least 18 years of age * Must possess unrestricted work authorization * Must provide full work availability * Must provide own transportation to/from work * Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months) Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2019 - August/September 2019. Interns must be available to work full-time for the duration of the internship.
